|

A construction worker was killed after an 187-foot beam, weighing 45 tons, fell at a bridge job site this week in Illinois. Three other men were also injured in the workplace accident. A support beam, being held in place by two cranes, fell on top of the crew working over night at the Memorial Tollway Bridge in Des Plaines, Ill. The men were taken to the hospital where one of the construction workers died from his injuries. The three other men suffered minor injuries. The beam remains on the closed section of the highway and officials are still working on getting the massive beam removed. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
