Florida Semi Crash Kills One

|

Tragically in St. John’s County, Florida one person has died following a chain-reactionsemi crash. Furthermore, the semi crash happened Thursday night on Interstate 100, and following the fatal accident all north and southbound lanes were shut down between S.R. 207 and S.R. 16.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a box truck that was hauling newspapers lost control and struck the median. As a result, the truck then headed back to I-100 and stopped which caused a semi-truck to the swerve to avoid a collision. The semi-truck then went through a guardrail and onto southbound traffic and came to a rest in a group of trees. Sadly a pickup truck with three passengers ended up crashing into the box truck which caused the accident.

The driver of the box truck died instantly in the crash. The three people inside the pickup truck as well as the driver of the semi were all injured but will make a full recovery. An investigation into the exact cause of the crash is pending.
