Teen Killed in Pedestrian Accident

|

A teenager was killed in a pedestrian accident on Tuesday morning in Hopewell Township, Pennsylvania. The accident happened when 17-year-old Tristan Markese Clark was walking along Route 641 for unknown reasons. A vehicle traveling west struck Clark, and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the accident and is cooperating with police. Authorities did not indicate if the driver will be charged for the accident.

Traveling on foot or by bicycle are gaining in popularity, especially in urban areas. The reason for the increase in pedestrian traffic is mostly due to the steady increase in individuals becoming more environmentally conscious. Common sense tells us that pedestrians are smaller in size than all vehicles, and the smaller size can lead to a pedestrian accident if the driver is not operating their vehicle with their full attention. Pedestrian accidents claimed the lives of 4,735 individuals in 2013, and the vast majority of these deaths were preventable. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encourage all pedestrians and bicyclists to follow all safety precautions to prevent an accident from occurring. Unfortunately, reckless driving is typically the cause of pedestrian accidents, even the pedestrians who follow all safety precautions.
