Five Injured, Two Killed in Boating Accident

|

A boating accident on Friday afternoon has claimed the lives of two people and injured five others. The accident happened in Manasquan, New Jersey around 1:30 p.m. Seven individuals were riding on a pontoon boat when authorities believe a large swell caused the boat to capsize. All passengers were thrown into the water and recovered. Unfortunately, 66-year-old Alex Osadchy and 74-year-old Grigory Klokishner were killed in the accident. The five other individuals suffered injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals. Those injured are believed to have non-life threatening injuries. An investigation is being conducted and is ongoing.

Boating accidents happen more frequently than most people realize. Thousands of injuries and fatalities are sustained every year on lakes, rivers, and other bodies of water. Boating while intoxicated, speeding, and reckless boating are some of the most common causes of boating accidents; however, other factors could also lead to a boat crash. Injured individuals should seek the guidance of an experienced personal injury attorney to determine the cause and liability of their accident.
