Seattle interstate closed for 9 hours due to semi crash

|

The southbound lane of State Route 99 near Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington was closed for an astounding nine hours Tuesday afternoon due to a semi crash. Furthermore, the accident happened just before rush hour near Atlantic Street when for unknown reasons a semi overturned in the middle of the road. The crash happened near a construction zone so as soon as the truck tipped over, the workers rushed over to assist the semi driver. Luckily, the driver suffered only non-threatening injuries from the crash.

The semi was hauling salmon at the time of the crash, and that load contributed to the lengthy cleanup time. Not only were vehicles in the area tied up for a large amount of time, but also were Metro Buses and the Sound Transit. Luckily no other vehicles were involved in the semi crash. An investigation into the exact cause for the semi to tip over is being looked into.
