Illinois Man Killed in Lawn Mowing Accident

|

A 44-year-old worker for the city of Leland Grove, Illinois, a suburb of Springfield, was killed last Wednesday in a lawn mower accident. The accident occurred around 1 p.m. when the man was operating a commercial lawn mower near a creek close to Wiggins Avenue. The section he was mowing was on a slight slope and the mower overturned, landing on top of him. Emergency workers arrived at the scene and removed the mower and began performing CPR. The Springfield man was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m. According to the autopsy report, he was killed due to the injuries sustained from the accident. Jill Egizii, Leland Grove’s mayor, said that he was a hard worker and enjoyed his work.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, in 2013 there were 4,585 workplace fatalities. Losing a loved one is tragic and can be devastating if their death was preventable. If you have lost a loved one in a wrongful death accident, you may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, funeral expenses, and lost wages. There is no amount of money that will ease the pain of losing a loved one. However, contacting a knowledgeable St. Louis wrongful death attorney can alleviate the stress of negotiating with insurance adjusters and investigating the accident.
