DJ Caused Fatal DUI Accident, Sentenced to 22 Years

|

A Miami DJ, Ervens Prudent, has been sentenced to 22-years in prison for a fatal DUI accident. The accident happened in June of 2013 when Prudent was operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The accident claimed the lives of Prudent's passengers, Maria Martinez, and Marlon Gutierrez. Prudent claims he was not intoxicated but had fallen asleep behind the wheel of the accident. He was convicted of DUI manslaughter.

The risks of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol are astonishing. All drivers must complete a driver's education course before receiving their driver's license. During the course individuals receive an education regarding the rules and regulations of the road including the consequences and risks of drunk driving. Unfortunately, many drivers ignore these warnings and take their lives and the lives of others into their own hands by driving while impaired. Thousands of individuals are killed in DUI accidents every year. Drivers convicted of DUI charges may face severe punishment in the forms of fines, prison time, and a revoked license. Those individuals should also be held accountable financially for the damages they've caused, and the best way to seek justice is to consult an experienced DUI accident lawyer.
