Man Dies in Motorcycle Accident

|

An early morning accident claimed the life of one man in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The 30-year-old man was operating his motorcycle, traveling westbound on Interstate 64, when a 37-year-old man was driving a 2008 Ford van in the same direction. The two drivers were in separate lanes and as they approached traffic that had slowed, the driver of the van quickly changed lanes and crossed directly in front of the motorcycle. The rider did not have time to react causing him to lose control, wreck his motorcycle and he was thrown from the bike. Unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 6:45 a.m. Authorities stated that charges are currently pending against the driver of the van.

Drivers who operate motorcycles are at a greater risk of being injured or killed in an auto accident compared to those in passenger vehicles. Typically, individuals that ride motorcycles have a disadvantage due to their size and decreased visibility, which cause them to be very responsible and fully aware of their surroundings. Drivers in passenger or commercial vehicles do not need to always drive defensively and are distracted more easily than those driving motorcycles. If you or a loved one has been injured or killed in a motorcycle accident due to another drivers' negligence, contacting an auto accident attorney is imperative in seeking justice and recovering financial compensation.
