Two Tractor Trailers Involved in Vermont Accident
Posted By Meyerkord & Meyerkord, LLC
A FedEx tractor-trailer was involved in a crash in Westminster, Vermont.
The driver, a 27-year-old man, lost control of the International truck
and two trailers he was pulling in the early morning
accident. That accident is being partly attributed to road conditions, but the
truck and one trailer went down a bridge embankment and totaled both units.
The other trailer remained on the interstate and caused severe damage
to the guardrail and road. A second tractor trailer crashed into the trailer
that was left on the road by the previous truck, totaling the trailer
and blocked both lanes. Minor injuries were sustained by both drivers,
and the road was closed for clean-up and bridge inspections.
Semi and heavy truck accidents can cause serious injuries and damage due
to their size and heavy weight. There are around 15.5 million trucks in
the United States, and almost 13% are semis, 18 wheelers, big rigs and
tractor trailers. Trucks this size can be dangerous because of visibility
issues. Also, most are carrying heavy loads which mean that stop time
decreases which can increase accidents. The loads these trucks haul can
be dangerous also. Sizes, shapes, and weight can all affect how the trailer
drives and can even determine if the wind or other conditions can be dangerous
for fellow drivers. Scarily, the average cost of a trucking accident is
$59,150 and can be overwhelming to those injured in a trucking accident.
Various accidents can be complex, so it is important to speak with a qualified
