Trek Recalling Bicycles Due to Fall Hazards

Trek recalls around 800 bicycles and 300 wheels due to fall hazards. The company reports that caliper on the front brake can contact a broken spoke which can cause the rider to fall. 2015, 2016, and 2017 model 720 Disc bicycles and Bontrager Approved TLR Disc 700C 24H Front and Rear Wheels with silver spokes. The bicycles were sold in two different frame sizes, 49 through 61 cm frame sizes. “Trek” is on the bicycle frame, and the serial number is printed on the down tube. The company has received ten incident reports where the spoke of the wheel contacted the caliper, or the spokes broke on the hub. One injury report involved a broken vertebra. The company suggests consumers stop using the bicycle and return to a Trek retailer for a free inspection and replacement wheels.
