A school crossing guard was hit in a pedestrian accident in front of a Texas high school while trying to stop traffic. The crossing guard was stationed at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station when a 16-year-old male driver approached the marked crosswalk. The crossing guard, a 58-year-old male, stepped out to stop traffic when the teen driver hit him after not stopping. The individual was rushed to a local hospital where he is being treated. It’s reported that his injuries do not seem to be life-threatening and the investigation is currently ongoing into the accident.

It’s estimated that over 65,000 people are injured each year due to pedestrian accidents. Sadly, many of these accidents can be avoided if both drivers and pedestrians are alert to their surroundings and to each other. Anyone who is biking, running, walking or on sidewalks or roadsides are in danger of being involved in a pedestrian accident. Drivers and pedestrians both have responsibilities to obey all signs and signals when driving and crossing roadways. However, pedestrian accidents can cause severe injuries that can result in expensive medical bills, undue stress and even possible home modifications to accommodate life-altering injuries. Always contact a personal injury attorney if you or a loved one has been injured in a pedestrian accident. An attorney will investigate your case and can determine if you have grounds to pursue legal action and if so, will defend your case in court to get the care and compensation you deserve.
