The Oregon State Police has responded to over 750
traffic accidents statewide due to weather. They reported that they’ve responded to
91 road hazards, 394 reported crashes and 266 disabled vehicles. Luckily,
there have not been any fatalities in these accidents, but they still
urge all motorists to practice safe driving during this storm. They have
released several tips for motorists to practice when venturing out in
adverse weather conditions. They also stress not to travel unless necessary
and if you do get on the roads to please take your time and slow down
when the conditions are poor for driving.
Weather related car accidents happen when it is snowy, icy or raining and
send hundreds of drivers to the emergency room each year. Practicing safe
driving is always a necessity when faced with bad weather when you’re
on the roads. However, you need to be alert to other motorists and their
driving habits as well. Someone who is driving too fast for the bad weather
conditions could easily cause an accident and injure many people. If you
are injured in an accident, a call to a personal injury attorney should
be on the top of your to-do list.
