According to the California Highway Patrol, more drunk drivers were arrested this New Year's holiday weekend in San Diego County than last year. CPH reports four more drunk drivers were arrested compared to last year. Two people were killed as a result of drunk driving says CHP officers. According to reports, a total of 47 drivers suspected of driving under the influence were arrested this New Year's holiday weekend.

At the statewide level, DUI arrests did not increase. However, fatalities did increase across California. 19 people were killed this year in DUI-related crashes across the state compared to last year’s 13 people who died.
