A 91-year-old woman was injured after she was attacked by two family dogs in Henderson, Nevada. The woman was trying to stop a fight between a Rottweiler and Doberman breed dogs when she was attacked. The victim suffered critical injuries to her face and arms and rushed to a local hospital to undergo surgery. Authorities reported that it is unclear what caused the dogs to fight and they were taken into custody by the city’s animal control. Police reported that the dogs belonged to a relative of the victim and they weren’t sure if the owner would be charged.

Dog bites are not only scary, but they can be severe. It’s reported that 86% of attacks induce bodily harm, especially if it’s a breed that is prone to attacks. It’s also estimated that there are four times as many dog bite-related emergency room visits in rural areas versus urban areas. You might be concerned if your family pet could attack and harm you or a loved one. Keep in mind that the temperament of a dog can change, so it’s important to keep an eye on them if they’re in a new environment, playing with kids or getting older. Also pay attention to any strange dogs that might be in your yard, on a walk or out in public. Don’t try to pet a dog you’ve never seen and always keep children away from them.
