Uber Passenger Dies In Missouri Traffic Accident

|

An Uber passenger has died in a traffic accident in Kansas City, Missouri early Saturday morning. According to Kansas City Police, the 25-year-old male had requested an Uber ride to Lenexa around 3 a.m. The passenger was picked up by a female driver of a black Cadillac Escalade. According to the Uber driver, the passenger told her he was feeling sick and asked to get out of the vehicle. The driver pulled over on the right shoulder of westbound I-435 at 103rd Street and allowed the man to get out. Police say when the man stepped out of the vehicle, a white Volkswagen veered off the road and struck the rear of the Cadillac and the Uber passenger. The Volkswagen continued off the road through trees, rolled and came to a stop in the ditch just off the ramp to 103rd Street.

Police say the young Uber passenger died at the scene of the crash. Police have not released his name. The driver of the Volkswagen and the Uber driver were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the crash is under investigation. Uber has not commented on the accident.
