State Maintenance Worker Killed On The Job

A Missouri man was killed during a maintenance work accident on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities report the man was in the course of his maintenance job duties when he was thrown off a company ATV near the 13300 block of Bellefontaine in north St. Louis County around 12:45 p.m. The 40-year-old man from Hazelwood died of his injuries sustain in the ATV accident. Police say the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities say the man was a maintenance worker for the Division of Youth Services' Missouri Hills campus. Police say the man was driving off-road when the single-vehicle accident occurred. The St. Louis County Accident Reconstruction and the Police Department's Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are investigating the accident.

According to the director of communications for the State of Missouri Office of Administration, the man had worked for the state for more than 15 years and had spent his entire career working at the Missouri Hills campus. His duties included building maintenance and groundskeeping. The agency expressed their deepest sympathies for the loss of such a long standing member.
