Miami Marlins Pitcher Killed in Boating Accident
Posted By Meyerkord & Meyerkord, LLC
Early Sunday morning a 24-year-old Miami Marlins star pitcher was killed in a
boating accident. The Coast Guard found that he was one of three killed in the accident
after spotting a boat overturned around 3 a.m. Authorities believe speed
was the factor for the crash. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission advised that the 32-foot boat that the victims were on made
severe impact with a jetty where debris from the crash was scattered over
the rocks still.
There wasn’t an immediate concern for the involvement of alcohol
or drugs playing a part in the crash. It was noted that none of the victims
wore a life jacket. The boat was very well-known for being connected to
the Marlin players and had previously been stopped for inspections in the past.
The player’s girlfriend just posted a picture of herself with her
pregnant belly on Instagram last week. He was known as a man who loved
life, and it's a huge loss to the organization. Due to this tragedy,
Sunday's game was canceled.
Often boat owners view the vessel as a form of entertainment and do not
necessarily give them the same care as automobiles. As a result, boats
can be very dangerous. Like any other means of transportation, there are
safety precautions that need to be followed to ensure the safety of the
owner; it’s passengers and other boaters. Some of the most common
boating injuries are severe bruising, broken or fractured bones, concussions,
paralysis, drowning, and paralysis. Many boating accidents are attributed
to boating under the influence, inexperienced boaters, and distracted
boating. Our law firm doesn’t believe others should ever suffer
the consequences of someone else’s negligence.
