A 4-year girl narrowly missed serious injury after a dangerous school accident in California. The parents of the little girl are outraged after their daughter was able to wander away from her elementary school in Allied Gardens. The parents say the school put their child in grave danger. The incident has caused the parents to remove her from the school and into another school district.

According to the child’s parents in an interview with a local news station, the student wandered away from Foster Elementary School during a bathroom break around 2 p.m. on a Tuesday afternoon. The 4-year-old girl was able to walk right through one of the gates and out of the school campus. She then crossed several blocks and a busy intersection and stopped at the Allied Garden Pool. The parents were called by staff members of the Allied Garden Pool.

The parents are accusing the school of negligence, saying the school knew the open gate was a safety issue but did nothing to change it. They are asking why a teacher did not notice their daughter never came back from the bathroom. The parents also say the school did not notify them that their daughter was missing for almost an hour. The school was a part of the San Diego Unified School District, which she has now been removed. The upset parents plan to address the San Diego County Board of Education

Foster Elementary claims they have now changed their bathroom break policy for pre-kindergarten through first grade after the dangerous incident. The school states that all of the students will be accompanied by an adult at all times.
