Chicago Cab Driver Driving Drunk

|

Chicago cab driver was charged with drunk driving early Sunday in Riverside. A Riverside police observed the 60-year-old cab driver allegedly urinating on his car and appeared to be intoxicated, all while a passenger waited inside the vehicle. The incident happened in the 900 block of South Ferdinand Avenue. The cab driver was charged with disorderly conduct for urinating, driving while intoxicated and improper parking on a roadway.

According to the police report, an officer on patrol spotted a cab, with no headlights, stopped in the westbound lane of 26th Street just west of Harlem Avenue at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. The officer says he approached the cab found a man urinating near the rear passenger-side tire. The officer questioned the cab driver, who smelled of alcohol. The police officer observed the driver having difficulties standing, and his speech was slurred. The officer gave a sobriety test in which the man failed and was arrested. It was also reported that the cab driver was belligerent towards the officer. Police said the man’s breathalyzer revealed he was twice the legal limit for intoxicated driving. The cab driver worked for a taxi company in Chicago called Cicero. Police say once they detained the cab driver, they arranged for safe transportation of the unlucky passenger in the taxi.
