Posted By Meyerkord & Meyerkord, LLC
A multi-million-dollar trial is underway against a shopping plaza owner
after a career and memory were taken from a woman after she
slipped and fell walking on an access ramp. The woman’s realtor office was inside
of the shopping plaza and upon leaving one misty day she slipped and fell
on the ramp. She told jurors she had undergone five surgeries to repair
the injured nerves and spinal cord incurring more than $670,000 in just
She is seeking millions in damages stating that in addition to the medical
expenses the fall has left her unable to work in order to make a living
because she doesn’t think well, can’t remember things, names,
isn’t productive leaving her to feel worthless. She suffered “tremendous”
headaches and body stiffness shortly after the fall and later learned
she had a herniated neck, herniated lumbar vertebrae, and brain damage.
The defense attorney is questioning the severity of her injuries. Under
cross-examination, she advised that she still is able to travel, one trip
being a 10-day cooking school in Italy and that she has been treated for
depression for years.
