Nashville Woman Injured In Hit-And-run Bicycle Accident

|

A Nashville woman narrowly escaped death after a hit-and-run bicycle accident near Centennial Park. Police say the woman was riding her bike home from her workplace when she was struck by a vehicle on Poston Avenue between West End and Centennial Park. Authorities say the driver of a tan SUV speed away and left the woman seriously injured. Witnesses said the driver flee the scene and many rushed to help the woman. The bicyclist suffered serious bruising and several broken bones. The bicyclist also said that the event was traumatic and her physical wounds are nothing compared to her emotional wounds.

According to police, they are working with a nearby business called Kwik Sak on West End Ave. near Centennial Park to review surveillance images. Police say they are looking for a white man who spends time in the area and on that day was shirtless and wearing a bandanna. Police are asking anyone with information about the bicycle accident to please call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.

This accident and others have caused a push from locals to install cameras at Metro Parks. Residents believe cameras installed at the parks will increase security and accountability. City officials responded, saying there is not enough money in the budget to install cameras at this time.
