Illinois Man Killed In Motorcycle Accident, Driver Cited

|

An Illinois man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Jersey County on Monday. According to police, the accident happened on Lockhaven Road and Illinois Route 100. Authorities say a northbound Ford truck crossed into the path of a motorcycle. The motorcycle hit the truck and eject both driver and passenger. The driver of the motorcycle was a 58-year-old Caseyville man who died at the scene of the crash. The passenger was a 55-year-old Caseyville woman who was seriously hurt and transported by helicopter to a hospital where she remains in a critical state. The 24-year-old driver of the truck was uninjured, and police say he was cited for failing to yield at an intersection. The accident is still under investigation, and northbound Illinois Route 100 was closed for several hours.

Motorcycle accidents can have devastating consequences. Due to their lack of safety features, motorcycle accidents are often more serious than the average auto accident. Even a minor motorcycle accident can lead to serious injuries and may result in a lifetime of pain or disability. When a person is hurt in a motorcycle accident caused by a negligent or distracted driver, the victim is entitled to seek compensation for their damages.
