Samsung Hit Again - 2.8 Million Washing Machines Recalled
Posted By Meyerkord & Meyerkord, LLC
recalled around 2.8 million top-load washing machines due to reports of the top
of the machine detaching from the chassis when in use. There have been
733 cases of detachment or consumers complaining of excess vibration.
Nine injuries have been reported, which includes a shoulder injury, a
broken jaw, impact injuries and fall-related injuries. The Samsung recall
includes 34 models of the popular washing machines that were sold at Best
Buy, The Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, and other nationwide home appliance
stores from March 2011 to November 2016. Samsung is urging consumers to
contact the company immediately to obtain a remedy option. The company
is offering the option of a free in-home repair kit that will reinforce
the washer’s top and an extra year of the manufacturer’s warranty,
or a rebate that can be applied to a purchase of a new Samsung washing
machine that comes with free installation and disposal of your old machine.
Consumers who have purchased their washing machine within the past 30
days can receive a full refund.
This product recall is very unnerving due to the extent of injuries and
the amount of washers it has affected. Product liability injuries are
something that can and should be prevented. Unfortunately, it takes several
injuries for companies to investigate a possible product recall. These
injuries often lead to mounting medical bills, lost time from work, lost
wages, physical therapy, and undue stress. A product liability attorney
should be your first call after receiving medical attention. An experienced
attorney will help you fight for maximum compensation while holding the
company liable for your injuries.
