A recent victory for a plaintiff against Johnson & Johnson marked the third straight trial defeat among the thousands of lawsuits claiming its talc products cause ovarian cancer. The October trial resulted in a St. Louis jury awarding the plaintiff $67.5 million from Johnson & Johnson. Now Johnson and Johnson will fight to have the court location changed.

$195 million have been awarded to plaintiffs from a state court in St. Louis. According to officials, the same judge presided in all three cases heard against Johnson and Johnson. Some 2,500 similar claims are still pending, and a vast majority have been filed in the St. Louis’ courts. Jurors have sided with the plaintiffs who claim studies show Johnson and Johnson's talc products, when used as feminine hygiene, increase the risk of ovarian cancer.

Johnson and Johnson is fighting these claims, arguing there is no such link and the St. Louis jury pool has been tainted. The New Jersey-based company is fighting that cases should not be heard in St. Louis as more cases go to trial. The company plans to take their appeal to the Missouri Court of Appeals. Johnson and Johnson is winning such cases in other courts, such as New Jersey. Many legal professionals believe Johnson and Johnson should start settling these case. Johnson and Johnson is still fighting these claims, keeping their products on the market, and refusing to add warning labels.
