IKEA Recalls Dresser

Posted By Meyerkord & Meyerkord, LLC || 16-Nov-2016

The furniture brand IKEA has furthered their product recall recently. The recall is on about 29 million of their Malm dressers, which are sold in the United States and Canada. The recall has been furthered because the product has resulted in the death of four children, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Some of the deaths involving the dresser occurred as a result of the product falling on top of the children.

About 27,000 people pass away every year due to injuries that occur because of dangerous or defective products, and many more people are injured or disabled. When a product purchased by a consumer turns out to be defective or dangerous, consumers are protected by the product liability law. When a consumer has a product injury case, in order to recover compensation for their losses, they must prove that the company or manufacturer is liable. In order to prove negligence, the consumer must prove that the product either: was manufactured defectively, lacked necessary safety warnings, was dangerous, or was designed defectively.
