Holiday Weekend Ends With Tragic Crash in Franklin County

|

During the early hours on Sunday, a wrong-way driver slammed into a family traveling from Texas. The auto accident was head-on and occurred on Interstate 44 in Franklin County. The horrific collision resulted in the loss of three lives, and five people suffered injuries. The Missouri Highway Patrol stated that a 26-year-old man was driving a Saab in the westbound lanes but traveling eastbound when he struck a 2014 Toyota Sienna. Tragically, the fatalities included the driver of the Saab, driver of the Toyota, and a 2-year-old boy that was a passenger in the Toyota. The five individuals that suffered injuries were all passengers in the Toyota van. Authorities did not indicate if alcohol was a factor in causing the accident.

The Thanksgiving holiday this year was expected to have more travelers in the past several years. Common sense tells us that an increase in traffic also increases the number of auto accidents that are likely to occur. During the holiday season, alcohol consumption also increases as well as driving under the influence. Being involved in an auto accident can result in physical, emotional, and financial damages. In order to recover compensation and receive justice, it’s important to consult an experienced personal injury attorney.
