Tractor-Trailer Accident Results in Serious Injuries

|

This past Sunday, a tractor-trailer accident closed all lanes of Interstate 44 and seriously injured another motorist. The westbound driver of the tractor-trailer smashed the cables when he crossed over the median and crashed into a car near exit 169 in Phelps County. The tractor-trailer then caught fire due to a flammable liquid that was onboard. The Doolittle Fire Protection reported the truck driver was able to escape the tractor-trailer, however, the other motorist involved in the crash was seriously injured and had to be pulled out of the car by helpful bystanders. The injured driver was then flown to a hospital. His condition is unknown. It is unclear if the truck driver was injured. The accident is still under investigation.
