Talcum Powder Lawsuits Increase as Women Come Forward

|

As jurors are awarding millions of dollars to Talcum Powder Lawsuit plaintiffs, the number of plaintiffs are increasing. At the beginning of the month, a second verdict was made by a St. Louis jury agreeing with the plaintiff’s complaint that talcum powder caused their ovarian cancer. Johnson & Johnson has been ordered to pay more than $100 million. Despite the verdicts, the company continues to deny any responsibility.

Recently, 15 women, and the families of two deceased women, from New Mexico have filed lawsuits against Johnson & Johnson accusing them of negligence. The complaints state that J & J was aware of the cancer risks for several years and chose to ignore them, continuing to distribute their Baby Powder and Shower to Shower Powder that contains talcum. There are currently more than 1,000 lawsuits filed against Johnson & Johnson.

For several decades, women have used talcum powder on their genitals as part of their hygiene routine. Unfortunately, the particles of the powder can travel up the vagina and attach to the ovaries, resulting in ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is one of the more common types of cancers in the United States and accounts for thousands of deaths each year. If you or a loved one have been the victim of a company’s neglect, it is important to contact an experienced product liability attorney.

The St. Louis Talcum Powder attorneys at Meyerkord & Kurth will fight aggressively to hold Johnson & Johnson accountable for their negligence.
