St. Louis Veterans Concerned With Dangerous Crossing After Accident

|

St. Louis Veterans are alarmed and frustrated at the location of a V.A. Hospital and fear an accident will occur. Veterans have to cross a dangerous and busy street to enter the V.A. Hospital, at 915 North Grand Blvd. Veterans rely heavily on their medical benefits at the V.A. Hospital and report they are constantly having to cross North Grand because the parking lot cannot handle the flow of patients. Their concerns are not without warrant. According to police, an 81-year-old man was killed while crossing North Grand to get to the hospital on May 10. Many complain that the crosswalk light does not give pedestrians enough time to walk safely across the busy street. The St. Louis Street Department will investigate the fatal pedestrian accident; however they take no responsibility. They have agreed to look into lengthening the timed light to allow more time to cross the street.
