Recalls May Be Issued After Sunroof Shatters

|

A nationwide complaint of shattering sunroofs has left owners of certain Kia models frustrated and worried. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an investigation of 2011-2013 Kia Sorento is being conducted. The examination will also analyze four other carmakers with similar sunroofs, a total of 12 different models.

A recent complaint comes from an Indiana woman who claims her 2012 Kia Optimas sunroof exploded as she was driving. She also claims when she called Kia’s customer service; they had no answers for her as to why it happened. They did, however, install a new sunroof at no cost. Her 2012 Kia Optima is not one of the models included in the NHTS investigation. A representative for Kia declined to respond to the current investigation but claims they have been dealing with the matter directly with the customer. The Indiana woman was happy with her new sunroof installed at no cost, but she remains concerned that it could happen again and possibly cause an injury or a traffic accident.
