Driver Charged for Double Fatal Crash in Kansas City Area

|

A teenage driver has been charged stemming from a double fatal car crash in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. The auto accident happened on February 1st when the 18-year-old driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass a vehicle in a no passing zone. He collided with an oncoming vehicle and his two teenage passengers were killed in the crash. Both passengers were also 18-years-old, a male and a female. The teen was under the influence of a depressant at the time of the crash. He has now been charged with driving while intoxicated and involuntary manslaughter.

Auto accidents involving teen drivers are very common and are mostly caused by reckless driving. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are six fatalities involving teens ages 16-19 in auto accidents each day. The inexperienced driving and reckless behavior of teen drivers are often the cause for the majority of auto accidents. Distracted driving, aggressive driving, failure to wear seat belts, and lack of experience are all examples of how teens cause traffic accidents.
