Blue Cheese Recalled by Whole Foods

|

The grocery chain, Whole Foods, has issued a recall for Maytag Raw Milk Blue Cheese that is sold nationwide. The blue cheese is being recalled due to a listeria contamination that has the potential to cause illnesses in those who consume it. This is the second blue cheese recall issued by Whole Foods in the last five months. Anyone in possession of the blue cheese should check PLU codes to discover if they begin with 293308.

Food poisonings and disease contaminations occur multiple times a year and often the manufacturer or distributor of the product is responsible. Food products, as well as toys, electronics, vehicles, and nearly any other consumer goods, are recalled throughout any given year due to the item being dangerous, contaminated, or defective. Product liability laws require all companies to produce an item that is safe, free of defects, and labeled with the appropriate warnings. In the event that an individual suffers injuries, illnesses, or death due to a defective or dangerous product, they could have grounds to file a product liability case.
