School Principal Killed in Bus Accident

|

On Tuesday afternoon, a bus accident resulted in the fatality of a school principal and two students suffered serious injuries. The accident happened in Lawrence Townships, Indiana near Indianapolis. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the principal of Amy Beverland Elementary School and approximately 25 elementary students were onboard a parked bus when the vehicle lunged forward and traveled over a curb. Authorities have provided few details regarding the crash, but are calling it a “freak accident”. The condition of the injured students is unknown and police are continuing to investigate the crash.

School bus accidents that result in fatalities are rare despite the fact that they occur hundreds of times each year. If your child is transported to school on a bus, you want to feel confident that they will arrive at their destination safely. Unfortunately, negligent driving, flaws of the vehicle, and mechanical defects result in several bus accidents annually. Fatigued driving and distracted driving are the most common causes of bus accidents placing the liability on the driver. However, the employer of the driver could also be held liable in certain instances. To determine if you have grounds to file a bus accident case and recover the maximum compensation available, it is important to contact a bus accident attorney.
