On Friday morning, a pedestrian accident claimed the life of one individual in St. Louis. According to St. Louis police, 53-year-old Jerry Wiggins was walking along westbound Interstate 64/40 when he was struck in the fast lane near Hampton Avenue. Wiggins was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. All lanes were closed for several hours while investigators were tending to the scene of the accident. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. He claims he attempted to avoid striking Wiggins, but was unsuccessful.
