Driver Killed in Tractor-Trailer Accident

|

On Friday morning, a tractor-trailer accident claimed the life of the driver in Massachusetts. The accident happened at approximately 11:43 a.m. when 43-year-old Issiaga Isaac Toure was driving a 2013 United Natrual Foods, Inc. tractor-trailer on Interstate 100. As he traveled north in the right lane of the interstate, the truck veered off the roadway, crashed through a metal guardrail, struck a light pole, and collided with the exit 19 Sasco Creek Road overpass bridge. Unfortunately, Toure was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The Massachusetts State Police are investigating the crash to determine what caused the accident.

Commercial trucks can be over 50 feet in length and weigh up to 80,000 pounds. To operate the massive vehicle, a driver must first obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL). During the courses to obtain a CDL, drivers receive an education regarding the traffic laws and truck safety to prevent a tractor-trailer accident from occurring. Tragically, thousands of truck accidents occur annually and many of these accidents are preventable. Mechanical defects, distracted driving, dangerous roadways, and fatigued driving are often to blame for tractor-trailer accidents. A full investigation should be conducted of every auto accident to determine the cause and parties responsible.
