Pedestrian Accident Results in Death of Man

|

A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Friday night. The accident happened at approximately 11:30 p.m. in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. According to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, a 21-year-old man was found unresponsive on Winnebago County E near State 116 in Rushford. The man had suffered obvious injuries from a traffic accident. Emergency crews were unsuccessful at reviving the man and tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information regarding the accident to contact police.

Pedestrian accidents often result in severe injuries and death due to the pedestrian being defenseless against a collision with a motor vehicle. While wearing reflective clothing, using crosswalks and sidewalks, and walking in well-lit areas may prevent some pedestrian accidents from occurring, the majority of these accidents are caused by the negligent actions of the motorist. Drivers that choose to operate their vehicle impaired, distracted, aggressively, or fatigued are taking the risk of being involved in an auto accident. Pedestrians are obviously smaller in size compared to a vehicle, reducing their visibility and making it easier for them to be struck by a vehicle with an inattentive driver. Focusing on the roadway and their surroundings is imperative for all drivers to avoid a collision.
