High School Principal Causes DUI Accident

|

On Monday evening, an auto accident resulted in a high school principal being charged with driving under the influence. The DUI accident occurred at around 5 p.m. when the 56-year-old principal attempted to pass another vehicle in the right lane of Main Street in Meriden, Connecticut. Few details pertaining to the accident were available, but police confirmed the driver was charged with DUI and passing in the right lane. The man is employed as the Platt High School Principal and is on sick leave while the school investigates the incident.

Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is one of the most negligent decisions a driver can make. Operating a vehicle impaired risks the lives of all other motorists, pedestrians, and bystanders, as well as the driver himself. Tragically, there are thousands of fatalities caused by drunk driving every year. In fact, Mother’s Against Drunk Driving estimates that there are 28 lives cut short each day in DUI accidents. Losing a loved one is one of the most difficult things a person can experience, and it is heartbreaking to learn that their life was taken in a preventable car accident. While many families of DUI accident victims are not concerned with recovering compensation for their damages, it is important to obtain the justice they deserve.
