Another Six Figure Settlement Obtained by Meyerkord & Kurth

|

An Illinois man settled an uninsured motorist claim for the policy limits of $100,000 after suffering injuries in a head-on collision.

The plaintiff, M.P., was a passenger in a 1995 Lincoln Towncar traveling on U.S. 67 in Jersey County, Illinois on April 1, 2014. As M.P., along with his son and wife, traveled southbound, a Chrysler Town & Country van heading north crossed into their lane and struck the vehicle on the front passenger side.

An ambulance transported M.P. to the emergency room for evaluation of several lacerations and injuries to both of his legs. At the hospital, M.P. was prescribed pain medication and ordered to use crutches to prevent bearing weight on the left leg due to a fracture. Over the next few weeks, M.P.’s pain escalated and caused nearly every situation to be unbearable, including sleep and work.

M.P. was represented by Brian Kurth of the St. Louis law firm Meyerkord & Kurth. With Mr. Kurth’s assistance, M.P. sought a second opinion regarding his injuries and it was confirmed that M.P. suffered knee pain and fractures, myalgia and spasms to the left shoulder, cervical sprains, spasms, and myalgia. These injuries are associated with chronic long-term pain. Along with the thousands of dollars incurred from medical treatment, M.P. also sustained several thousands of dollars in lost wages.

Brian Kurth was able to successfully represent M.P. and obtained a policy limits offer of $100,000 from State Farm. The uninsured motorist claim was settled for the policy limits in May of 2015.
