5-Year-Old Boy Killed in Car Crash

|

A car accident in Illinois claimed the life of a 5-year-old boy on Saturday. The Metro East crash occurred at around 8 p.m. near Caseyville. According to authorities, the child was riding in a vehicle when the driver rear-ended a vehicle that had become disabled in the westbound lanes of Interstate 64. The driver and two occupants of the disabled vehicle were transported by ambulances to area hospitals. Tragically, despite being in a child safety seat, the boy was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The accident remains under investigation.

The Association for Safe International Road Travel estimates that around 37,000 people are killed in auto accidents every year in the United States. Every car accident shares similarities but has unique circumstances that require a full investigation to properly determine the cause and party responsible. Engineers of roadways, automotive manufacturers, and drivers are often the parties that cause a crash. In nearly every auto accident, negligence contributes to the crash making them one of the most preventable types of accidents. Drivers may believe that traffic laws are overbearing, but they have been established to protect all individuals on the roadways. When drivers ignore these laws, they inflict injuries and death upon innocent victims through an auto accident.
