Motorist Safety Questioned After Video Goes Viral

A morning commute turned dangerous in Indianapolis when visibility became poor, and snowfall made conditions slick and caused several accidents. A video went viral and had more than 111,000 views on YouTube showing a Comcast truck parked in the right lane while working to fix a problem to a cable box that was damaged due to an earlier accident. The man working set up traffic cones behind the truck but unfortunately did not give enough notice to oncoming motorist who were traveling the icy roads. Drivers swerved to miss the truck and slid off the road. Comcast made a statement that they are currently addressing this issue and are using this as an example to reiterate how important everyone’s safety is during any job.

Weather –related accidents are prevalent this time of year, but extra caution needs to be taken if you are stopped on the road. If other motorists are unable to see stopped vehicles, this reduces their stop time and puts everyone in danger. Companies who are working on equipment and need to be parked in the road should alert other motorists by placing an ample amount of traffic cones behind their vehicles, use flashing lights to alert motorist or even a flagger or signs alerting motorist that work is being performed. If a vehicle accident occurs due to the negligence of another entity, contact a personal injury attorney immediately. An experienced attorney will investigate your claims and determine if you have grounds to pursue legal action.
