Two Children Killed In North St. Louis Crash

|

Two Ferguson children died in a horrific two-vehicle crash late Monday evening. Their 21-year-old mother was driving a sedan when they were struck at North Hanley Road and University Place Drive at approximately 9 p.m. According to police, a 19-year-old was driving an SUV northbound on Hanley and struck the sedan as it was turning left on University Place Drive. The SUV struck the rear passenger side of the sedan and witnesses say the sedan was ripped in two by the force of the crash. Two children in the sedan were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the SUV was also injured and treated at the hospital. The mother was treated for minor injuries at the hospital. Police are still investigating the deadly crash to determine responsibility.

According to the mother, neither child, 2-years-old & 3-years-old, were in safety seats. The family was traveling just a short distance to pick up their father from the Metrolink. The 3-year-old was in the front seat. According to Missouri law, children less than four years old or under 40 pounds are required to be in safety seats.
