Illinois Man Dies In Tanker Explosion

A man is dead after a fatal truck accident involving a tanker explosion in Cahokia, Illinois. According to Illinois State Police, a man was killed during a tanker explosion on Saturday morning. Authorities say at approximately six a.m., a tractor-trailer was exiting a Phillips 66 gas station when the driver of a pickup truck collided and slid underneath the tanker truck. The impact caused the tanker to explode, killing the pickup truck driver. Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured during the explosion. The fiery crash shut down Route 3 while crews worked to clear the scene. An investigation into the accident continues and no charges have been filed. The deceased has yet to be identified.
