Five Passengers Die In California Bus Crash

|

Five people lost their lives in a California bus accident earlier this month. In a horrific accident, a bus was almost split in two after crashing into a pole near Atwater, California at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday. According to the California Highway Patrol, five passengers aboard the bus were killed, and others were injured. The northbound bus was traveling to Washington from Mexico. A spokesperson with the CHP called the accident, catastrophic. Investigators had the road closed for hours while they rescued passengers from the wreckage. There will be an investigation into what caused the bus to veer off the road. A 12-year-old passenger says people were crying, and she had to be pulled out of the wreckage. Altogether, there were 30 people aboard the bus at the time of the deadly crash. Officials claim at least six people were airlifted, and seven others were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals. The names of the victims will not be released until families are notified.

The spokesperson with the California Highway Patrol is right -- bus accidents can be catastrophic. Due to their size and lack of visibility, bus accidents have been involved in many vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle accidents throughout the country each year. These catastrophic accidents cause massive damage, injury, and even death. Attorneys at Meyerkord & Kurth, LLC, have helped a number of bus accident victims in St. Louis and throughout Missouri.
