A work-related accident in Wilmington, North Carolina claimed the lives of two men. According to the Wilmington Fire Department, the accident occurred 8 a.m. on Monday morning. The employees were working for East Coast Contracting of Wilmington and were unloading concrete vaults from a flatbed truck with the use of a track hoe. Part of the track hoe came in contact with a power line and sent electricity through the men standing on a wet ground nearby. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and were identified as 55 -year-old James Williams and 49-year-old Manuel Flores. East Coast Contracting had been hired by the City of Wilmington for a project to improve drainage in an attempt to alleviate flooding. The accident is being investigated by the Wilmington Police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Workplace accidents account for thousands of injuries and deaths every year in the United States. All Missouri companies that employee five or more workers, and nearly all construction companies are required to purchase workers compensation insurance. Worker's compensation insurance benefits include medical coverage and lost wages for the injured worker. Unfortunately, the wages are only replaced at a rate of 66.6% of the average weekly wage, often leaving those injured with a financial burden. To recover the compensation you deserve it is necessary to consult an experienced St. Louis workers compensation lawyer.
