|

A Michigan firefighter was killed on Wednesday in a hit and run accident that police believe could be intentional. The accident happened in Lansing, Michigan when Lansing Fire Department firefighter, 35-year-old Dennis Rodeman, was collecting donations for Muscular Dystrophy Association and the International Association of Fire Fighters. Rodeman and other firefighters, wearing reflective clothing, were standing in the center turn lane of the roadway to collect the funds. According to witnesses, an unidentified driver of a truck drove past Rodeman, circled back around and struck him with the vehicle. Witnesses stated that it appeared the truck stuck him intentionally. The driver of the truck, a 22-year-old male, sped away from the scene, and as police officers attempted to stop the man, he fled on foot. Fortunately, he was apprehended and is being held on felony fleeing and eluding and suspicion of murder. The driver is expected to be charged in the next day or two. Rodeman was an Iraq War veteran, recently married and expecting his first child.
