Self-Driving Car Accidents Caused by Human Errors

|

A couple days after the automaker Volvo announced that they would take full responsibility for autonomous vehicle accidents, accident reports involving the vehicles were released. The California Department of Motor Vehicles released the reports for nine self-driving car accidents. All of the accidents were minor and involved errors by human drivers. A couple of the accidents involved the human drivers taking the vehicles out of the convenient mode. Other accidents were collisions involving other vehicles where the driver of the other vehicle was responsible for the crash. Google also disclosed that there have been only 16 accidents involving self-driving cars over the past six years, all of which were minor. The reports are a positive step for advocates of autonomous vehicles, and those opposed continue to question the safety of the vehicles.

There are thousands of auto accidents that occur each year, and while driver error accounts for the majority of accidents, other factors can also contribute to a crash. Dangerous roadways, mechanical defects, and vehicle design flaws are also examples of causes of auto accidents. Over the past year, millions of vehicles have been recalled due to mechanical defects and design flaws that could lead to an accident. If you have been injured or lost a loved one in a car accident, you may have grounds to recover compensation for medical bills, lost wages, property damage, and mental anguish.
