Missouri Woman Injured in Slip and Fall

|

Last month, a Missouri woman filed a lawsuit due to damages she sustained in a slip and fall accident. On September 24, 2013, Julie J. Burgess entered a Madison County CC Food Mart when she slipped and fell while attempting to walk to the register. Burgess claims there was liquid on the floor that caused her fall and that there was no warning indicating the hazard. She claims she sustained severe injuries that resulted in $70,000 in expenses for medical treatment, and that she has also sustained damages in the form of economical loss and pain and suffering. Burgess is seeking over $50,000 in damages sustained, as well as costs related to the lawsuit.

Owners of all properties, restaurants, hotels, retail stores and personal properties are responsible to provide a safe environment for all individuals. In the event that an individual sustains an injury, illness, or death on another entity’s property, they may have grounds to file a premises liability case. Examples of premises liability cases can be food poisoning, dog bites, drownings, and slip and falls.
