Single-Vehicle Accident Injures Teens

|

An overnight car accident resulted in two teenagers suffering injuries on Sunday. As three teens traveled along Highway 63, the driver lost control of the vehicle causing the crash. The 1997 Toyota Camry struck a guardrail and then collided with a tree. The driver, 18-year-old Garrett Shelton refused treatment for the minor injuries he sustained, and his passengers, 14-year-old Riley Houdek and 16-year-old Ethan Reams were transported by ambulance to the hospital for serious injuries. The Missouri State Highway Patrol stated that Shelton had fallen asleep behind the wheel that caused him to lose control of the Toyota. It is unknown if any citations were issued for the accident.
