Fatal Car Accident Caused by Drunk Driver

|

A woman was killed when a drunk driver caused an auto accident during the early hours on Saturday. At approximately 3:50 a.m., 34-year-old Jian Saeteurn was operating a 2004 Infinity when he rear-ended a 2006 Dodge on State Road 99 in South Sacramento. The Dodge was driven by 58-year-old Rajendra Parsad, and the impact caused his vehicle to crash through a guardrail and into a concrete pillar. On of the Dodge’s passenger, a 49-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries in the crash and another passenger, a 26-year-old male sustained minor injuries. Saeteurn fled the scene of the accident and was arrested at his residence. He has been charged with DUI, hit and run, and manslaughter charges, and is currently held at the Sacramento County Jail.

Every day there are 28 fatalities caused by a drunk driver, according to Mother’s Against Drunk Driving. Drivers that choose to operate a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol are risking the lives of themselves and others. DUI accidents have devastating effects, and those responsible will face criminal charges. Families that lose loved ones, and injured individuals, in DUI accidents, will likely incur financial expenses related to medical treatment, funerals, and loss of economic support.
