Driver Killed in Semi-Truck Accident

|

A semi truck accident resulted in the death of the driver during the early hours of Monday morning. The accident happened around 4 a.m. when a 24-year-old male driver was operating the truck that crashed. According to police, the truck was traveling on Interstate 435 southbound, and the driver attempted to exit onto Interstate 70. Investigators believe the driver was traveling too fast and failed to negotiate the curve on the exit resulting in the truck overturning. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and authorities have not released his identity. The roadway was closed for several hours while police investigated the accident and cleared debris.

Truck accidents typically result in serious injury, severe property damage, and death. The severity of a truck accident is due to the size of the vehicle. Commercial trucks can way up to 80,000 pounds and must be operated with proper care in order to avoid a crash. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, distracted driving, and inattentive driving are examples of driver negligence demonstrated by a truck driver. While negligent driving is often to blame for truck accidents, other factors can also be the cause such as dangerous roadways, improperly loaded cargo, and mechanical defects. If you have been injured or lost a loved one in a truck accident, it is imperative to consult an experienced St. Louis truck accident attorney.
